At Ulticon Builders Inc., the foundation of every structure we build is our people. As part of our commitment to UBI health and safety, we held our 2024 Annual Physical Examination (APE) under the theme “Healthy Body Comes with a Healthy Mind & Soul.”
This initiative is an integral part of our mission to establish a workplace that prioritizes health, safety, and care.
Our Chairman and President, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Ulticon, has always believed that the strength of our company lies in the well-being of our workforce. The Annual Physical Exam is one of many ways we show our people that they matter—not just as employees, but as individuals with lives, families, and futures.
While the APE aligns with the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Rule 1960, Section 1967.03 on occupational health services, it represents something deeper for us—a culture of care.
Held at the UBI Clinic Central Office, the physical exam was conducted in two waves:
● July 24, 2024 – For all office-based employees
● August 19, 2024 – For department managers
With the support of our trusted medical partner, Davao Specialists Clinic and Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (SCDL), the exams included:
● CBC (blood extraction)
● Urinalysis and fecalysis
● Chest X-ray
● ECG (for managers)
● Physical examination and physician consultation
From registration to final evaluation, every touchpoint was designed with clarity and compassion.
● CBC Results: 186 normal, 59 with findings (e.g., low WBC, anemia)
● Urinalysis: 197 normal; top findings included UTI, glucosuria, and pyuria
● Fecalysis: 175 submitted; 75 unable to submit samples
● Chest X-ray: 225 normal; scoliosis and pneumonia among notable findings
● Blood Pressure: 224 normal, 42 elevated
● BMI Status: 9 obese, 7 overweight, 7 normal
● Fit-to-Work Classification: 23 Class A (fit), 136 Class B (fit with manageable conditions)
● CBC: 73 normal
● Urinalysis: 62 normal, 12 with findings
● Chest X-ray: 54 normal
● Blood Pressure: 49 normal, 23 elevated
● BMI Status: 48 obese, 15 overweight, 9 normal
● Fit-to-Work Classification: 9 Class A, 67 Class B
These results remind us that health is an ongoing journey—even for those at the top.
Employees who had significant findings received medical recommendations tailored to their needs, including:
● Prescribed medications (for UTI and pneumonia)
● Follow-up lab tests and diagnostic referrals
● Lifestyle and diet counseling
● Blood pressure and glucose monitoring routines
● Encouragement for regular physical activity (30 minutes/day, 5 days/week)
The message was clear: at Ulticon, health doesn’t stop at diagnosis—it’s supported, sustained, and strengthened.
The Annual Physical Examination is part of a broader health and wellness program at Ulticon. From stress management and smoking cessation, to nutrition talks and preventive screenings, UBI health and safety is about empowering our people to live well, work strong, and stay resilient.
We invest in state-of-the-art equipment to build roads, bridges, and tunnels. But we also invest in people—because they are the real foundation of every success.
